Being a prisonblogs.net sponsor
Sponsors administer prisoner blogs. Prisoners need sponsors because most don't have internet access. The sponsor works with the prisoner and prisonblogs.net to create the site's features, look, and feel, types prisoners' blogs and optionally provides prisoners with printed blog comments and site traffic reports.
The role of the sponsor is dynamic and benefits from engagement and creative imagination as well as necessitates reliability and commitment. To assist sponsors, a sponsors forum has been created. If you choose to become a sponsor, be sure to check it out and join in the discussion.
Sponsorship Responsibilities
A sponsor is responsible for
- One or more prisoner blogs
- Posts input in a timely and accurate way
- Establishing agreements on the blog(s) with prisoners and fulfilling them to mutual satisfaction
- Passing prisoner(s) blogs to another sponsor or back to prisonblogs.net when the sponsor cannot or no longer wishes to fulfill the responsibilities for these blog(s).
A sponsor may choose to be responsible for
- Providing prisoners (including those who have other primary sponsors) with traffic reports for their blogs.
- Providing site promotion for prisoners (including those with other primary sponsors).
- At the request or with the agreement of the prisoner, provide proof reading, copy editing, or other editorial functions as mutually defined.
- Any other activities or agreements that might be mutually agreed upon.
- Register for this site.
- Send a message to pblogr or email info here. letting us know you would like to sponsor a prisoner and anything else you like about yourself.
- If there are currently no prisoners available for sponsorship, you will receive an email informing you of this, and, as possible, about how long you may have to wait for a prisoner.
- Otherwise you will receive 2 emails from info@prisonblogs.net. The first is a username and password, the second informs you of your blogs creation with a link. Log onto the new blog with the username and password, then go to Site Admin, and choose the second link, "Update your profile or change your password" on the Adminstration front page (Dashboard). Change your password to a word or word and number combination that you will remember, preferably avoiding words that can be found in dictionaries. Make any other changes as appropriate, and check out the blog. Usually the first post will be input within twenty-four hours of the blog's creation from the prisoner's contact letter. We'll probably set a default theme as well, but you should work with your prisoner to decide upon or develop a finished one.
- Write your prisoner immediately or at least as soon as possible after you become a sponsor. This is critically important. Provide him or her with an address to send blog posts to and introduce yourself.
- Moving forward, work with your prisoner to learn their vision and needs and build agreements to make your partnership effective and mutually rewarding.
